COVID- 19 UPDATES : School Closed through May 4th
Parents,
First let me start by saying I know this has all been crazy and I hope everyone is staying healthy. I know you are being bombarded with emails and updates and it creates anxiety but I am here to tell you NOT to worry. We look forward to when we get to return to school but until then please do not panic and do what you can with you child at home. When we do return we will work on filling in the gap. We are most concerned with the safety of our students. While social distancing and school closures are in place, I want to share some resources available to you and your child. Please do me a favor and have your children read at least 30 minutes a day. This is the BEST activity they can do to not fall behind in reading.
In an effort to keep our students growing, we have transitioned to Google Class. Paper copies of assignments are available Monday & Tuesday 12-4 each week, and digital versions are available below:
6TH GRADE WEEKLY ASSIGNMENTS HERE
If you have any questions on levels of books they should be reading please don't hesitate to reach out with ANY questions or concerns. You can email me anytime at jmarshall@dickinsonisd.org. Though I always have my phone with me I have designated 9am-12pm as my "office hours" to ensure that I can respond immediately to any questions or help virtually via Google Classroom Meet- please don't hesitate to reach out.

Hi family!
I hope that this letter finds you and your family doing well and staying healthy and taking time to remember- even in times like this, we still have each other. I keep saying it but I want you to know how much I mean it- I miss you all SO MUCH! These are times with many more questions than answers so please be patient and please know that we are doing the very best we can to communicate with you in a timely manner. We have been working so hard to ensure that we plan and meet the instructional needs of all of our students while adhering to the restrictions recommended by local, state, and national authorities. As information becomes available to me, I will communicate with you regarding any changes so check this page regularly and follow me on Instagram if you can- @marvelousmissmarshall!
Weekly Assignments
Every Monday morning, I will be posting assignments for you to complete for the week. I will share it with you via this webpage, our Google Classroom, email all parents and will update you on Instagram. I will try and get it to you earlier (like today) but if i cannot- the guarantee is Monday morning. You can also find assignments by clicking on the icon at the top of the DMS website. Click here for the DMS website (Click on your student’s grade level and it will take you to the main page)
From here, click on each content area and you will see the week’s work. Students are to complete at least 3 out of the 6 activities each week for each subject, but are allowed to choose which assignments to complete. This means that, at minimum, students should be completing 12 assignments per week.
Paper Copies
If you are unable to access materials online, we will print out copies and place them in boxes outside of the front door of the school for you to pick up on Mondays only. The school will be closed and no staff will be working, but the copies will be outside if you need them. Please practice social distancing and allow only one person at the boxes at a time.
• All middle school students in DISD will complete the same packet (either online or paper copy), so you can pick up copies from any of the three middle schools.
• Packets will be outside from 12:00 noon - 4 p.m. on Mondays.
Please take a moment to fill out a short survey so we can see who needs paper copies of assignments and who has internet access. Click here for the survey.
How to Get Help
If your student needs help, I will be available to answer any questions you or they have. Email is going to be the best way to get ahold of me now- email and our class Instagram page! I will always be checking my email during "school hours" (7:30a-3:30p) and will respond as quickly as I can. For an uninterrupted, dedicated time, I will be available Monday- Friday, 9am to 12pm. You may email me, request a Google Meet or DM me in our class Instagram page during this time!

I look forward to seeing the amazing work your child turns in and cannot wait to hear from them!

Hello to all of you wonderful Team Excellence students and families!
When the extended Spring Break was posted, I'm sure we were all a bit excited but the truth of the reality is- this is anything but! I miss each and everyone of you SO MUCH and look forward to talking to each of you soon. I miss all of our laughter, learning and each of you super cool family members!
Dickinson ISD, Dunbar Middle School and Team Excellence are most concerned with the safety of our students. While social distancing and school closures are in place, I want to share some resources available to you during this time. Please check out my Syllabus page for links to online learning so that your growth is still happening each and every day. You may also visit the Dickinson ISD web site for access to enhancement activities and resources. There will be information on the main page along with specific information on our Dunbar campus page added daily. I will also be adding these resources to my Syllabus page.
The district will be distributing lunches for students 11:00-12:00 noon Monday-Friday to be picked up at Dickinson High School off of Owens Drive. If you need anything at all, especially this meal, PLEASE go and get it! If you are having a hard time with transportation let me know and we will make it happen for you!
The district is following CDC guidelines and we are not able to offer large group gatherings or child care at this time. Stay tuned as information is coming daily. Refer to the DISD website and watch for emails and phone calls (maybe from unknown numbers) from the district and myself. I will be updating my personal website daily. We are working to reach students and their families in as many ways as possible so I have also created a class Instagram page for us that you can follow and I will be updating it daily. Follow me at
@marveloumissmarshall
I will be checking my email and Instagram and will be available during normal school hours of 7:30-3:30. Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns or just to say hi (let's be honest...you all miss me!) Miss you all tons and tons...stay safe and WASH YOUR HANDS!
