You do have to pay for this site BUT, the first month is free.  You can always cancel before they charge you. One of our Kindergarten Teachers daughter uses it and she loves it! You can pay  $10.00/month for it.  It has fun, engaging, and challenging activities aligned with our Kindergarten and First grade TEKS.  I highly recommend this site.

This is a great resource for letter and reading practice. Simple math skills such as, counting, shapes, patterns, etc. There is a great section for reading books and doing word work!

THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO WITH YOUR STUDENT AND YOU DON'T ALWAYS NEED TECHNOLOGY TO DO IT!

-Have your student read their book bag books to you.

-You can always Google search for online books.

-Read stories to your student.

-Count objects outside or around the house.

-Discuss days of the week, months of the year and weather.

-Find different shapes around the house and discuss them.  We have talked about 2D shapes: square, circle, rectangle, and triangle.

-Go over the sight words: choose 10 words a day; ask your student to read the words to you; turn the words into flash cards and quiz your child; play sight word search game around the house-stick the cards around the house and tell your student to find the words and read them as they bring you the cards; have your student write the words 5 times each; rainbow write the words (write each letter of the word in a different color); use the words in a sentence.

-Stretch out words and practice writing sounds you hear.  For example: Show a picture of a cat and have your student say each sound, c-a-t, then have your child write each sound.  CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words such as cat, dog, big, leg, bug and CVCe words (consonant, vowel, consonant, silent e) such as lake, bike, poke, cube are best to practice at this time.

-Write stories with at least 3 sentences: beginning, middle, and end.  Work on spaces between words and punctuation at the end.

-One digit addition and subtraction equations 0-10.  Practice horizontal and vertical number sentences.

-Addition and subtraction story problems.  Have your student tell you stories and act them out or draw them.

-Identifying coins: penny, nickel, dime, quarter.  The name and value of each coin as well as the president on each coin and what is on the back.  Discuss the sizes and how even though the dime is smallest, it is worth more than the penny and the nickel.
