Beanstack Overview
Hughes Road Elementary students use Beanstack to log books and minutes they are reading. Beanstack is a digital reading log that uses incentives to encourage reading in our new generation of young learners. By participating in Beanstack challenges, students will have multiple opportunities throughout the year to receive reading rewards. Please click here for how to add the Beanstack app to a device at home!
A list of rewards for our year-long challenges can be found here.
School-wide Challenge
The "Launching Readers Challenge" is available to all grade levels, PK-3rd grade. This challenge rewards readers for reading and logging MINUTES. Students receive individual rewards for reaching minute milestones.
Our Community Campus reading goal is to read 300,000 minutes collectively this year .
Help us reach this goal to receive a reading celebration hosted by our fabulous PTO at the end of the year!
Grade-Level Challenges
2nd-3rd graders have an opportunity to earn brag tags for reading books on the 25-26 Big Al Booklist that was released in May 2025.
This book list is available to students and families in Beanstack as the "Big Al Booklist Challenge."
Students who complete quizzes on the Big Al List may be eligible to join us for our annual battle of the books, the Big Al Book Bash, in May.
Monthly Challenges
Our library often promotes monthly challenges for students to earn extra Inchy the Bookworm coins. These challenges are shared with families via ClassDojo as well as our HRES Facebook page.
