2nd Nine Weeks: Novel Study, Persuasive Appeals, Rewrite the Ending

3rd Nine Weeks: Advertisements, Inquiry Paper, Drama, Write One-Act Play

4th Nine Weeks: Beowulf and Hero Cycle, Debate Project, Complaint Letter

English IV College Prep

Students who pass English IV College Prep will go directly into Composition I at College of the Mainland. The course focus is writing, though there will be readings as well. Students will turn in narrative, compare-and-contrast, and argumentative essays. They will also have a project, keep journals, and work on developing writing skills. The grading policy is as follows:

Daily grades: 15%                                                                                                                                                              Journals:        15%                                                                                                                                                            Project:          20%                                                                                                                                                              Essays:           25%                                                                                                                                                              Final Exam:    25%

Welcome to English IV and English IV College Prep! My name is Stephen Hancock. I have been teaching since 1994. I graduated from the University of Houston, where I worked as a teaching assistant in the Literature Department. I have taught all levels of high school English, including AP and Pre-AP. I have English IV College Prep for five classes and regular English IV for one. My conference is 7th, which begins at 1:45. Parents, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
