Parents, please take our DISD Technology and Internet Accessibility Survey by Wednesday, March 25 11:59 p.m. We are gathering information regarding your internet and device access from home during the COVID-19 school closure.

Good afternoon McAdams students and parents,

We hope that you all are staying home and doing well during this global health crisis.  We miss our students and look forward to the day we can return to normal school operations; however, until then we have developed a plan to continue learning at home.  Please know that we are in uncharted waters and are building this boat as it sails.  There will be things that must be adjusted.  We will continue working to solve problems and provide support to our students and parents through emails, phone calls and virtual platforms.

On Friday, March 20 and each subsequent Friday afterward by noon, the curriculum specialists will post a one-page document for the following week that will outline:

  • The TEKS to be targeted
  • Resources to support those TEKS
  • Learning activities from the curriculum bundles developed by McAdams that align to those TEKS

The curriculum documents and resources will be posted on the district website. On the home page, on the right is a button for online resources. The documents will also be emailed to teachers and staff as well as posted on social media.

Teachers will be posting the following supports on their website each week by Friday before the instructional week. The exception will be this week; supports will be posted by Sunday at noon. We will provide about 3 hours of instructional material for each core course per week.

  • Videos of mini-lessons to support the TEKs being targeted that week. This can include lectures, modeling, demonstrations, etc. The videos can be of the teacher or videos found online.
  • Links to supports such as exemplar products, notes and anchor charts.
  • Other resources that support students in completing the activities from the curriculum bundle.

What about students who need help?

Students will be able to email their teacher if they need 1:1 help/explanation. The teacher will be expected to call the student back the next school day during the following times using *67 to keep their number private:

  • ELA, Social Studies and Electives support 10:00am – 12:00pm each weekday
  • Math & Science support 1:00pm – 3:00pm each weekday

What about students without computer/internet access?

Each week, the bundle activities will be printed and available for pickup at the following locations/times. Parents may pick up at either school.

  • Kranz JH pickup each Monday from 12:00 pm-4:00 pm
  • McAdams JH pickup each Monday from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

How will work be assessed?

Students should submit completed work for teachers to review and/or give feedback. Students with computer access can submit completed work to teachers via email or Google classroom.  Students without computer access can return completed bundles when they pick up for the next week. Hard copy work will have to have the students’ name, teachers’ name and grade level on it.

 

Buenos días estudiantes y padres de McAdams,

Esperemos que Uds. se están  quedando en sus hogares y estén bien durante este crisis de salud globalmente. Extrañamos a nuestros estudiantes y esperamos el día en que  podemos regresar a nuestra rutina escolar de nuevo. Sin embargo, tenemos un plan para que su hijo(a) siga aprendiendo en la casa. Por favor entienda que estamos en momentos difíciles y estamos trabajando bastante para que haya una solución. Harán cosas que se necesitan ajustar.  Continuamos trabajando para resolver los problemas y proveer apollo a todos nuestros estudiantes y padres a través de correos electrónicos, llamadas telefónicas y plataformas virtuales.

E viernes 20 de marzo y cada subsquente viernes para el medio día, los especialisitas de curricula pondrán un documento de una página que explicará:

          --Los TEKS que se estudiarán

          --Recursos que apollan esos TEKS

         --Actividades de aprendizaje del curricula desarrollado por McAdams que están alineados con los TEKS

Los documentos del curricula y recursos serán puestos en el sitio de web del districto. En la página principal, a la derecha hay un boton para recursos ONLINE. Los documentos también serán mandado por correro electrónico a los(as) maestros(as) tal como a la media social.

Maestros(as) estarán pubicando los siguientes apollos en sus sitios web cada semana cada viernes antes de la próxima semana de instrucción. La excepción fue esta semana; apollos serán publicadas para el domingo a mediodía. Proveeremos 3 horas de instrucción para cada clase principal cada semana.

      --Habrán videos de lecciones para apollar los TEKS. Esto puede incluír discursos, modelaje, demostraciones, etc. Los videos pueden ser de el(la) maestro(a) or videos en la red.

      --Enlaces informáticos para apollar tal como productos ejemplares, notas y el carteles de referencias

      --Otros recursos que apollan los estudiantes para que terminen las actividades del curricula

Qué de los estudiantes que necesitan ayuda?

Estudiantes podran mandarle un correro electrónico a sus maestros(as) si necesitan ayuda/explicaciones personalmente. Se le espera que el/la maesro(a) llame el estudiante al siguiente día durnate horas escolares usando *67 para mantener el  número privado.

      --Lectura y Estudios Sociales y Electivos--10:00am – 12:00pm cade día

      --Matematicas y Ciencias --1:00pm – 3:00pm cada día

Qué de los estudiantes que no tienen acseso a una computadora o el internet (RED)?

Cada semana, el paquete de actividades serán imprimadas y listas para recojer en las diferentes locaciones/tiempos. Padres pueden ir a cualquier escuela.

  •        Kranz JH--recojen cada lunes desde 12:00pm – 4:00pm
  •       McAdams JH--recojen cada lunes desda 12:00pm – 4:00pm

Como sera los trabajos revisado?

Estudiantes deben de mandar trabajos electrónicamente para que el/la maestro(a) le de sugerencias. Estudiantes con una computadora pueden manadar los trabajos a el/la maestro(a) via GOOGLE Classroom. Estudiantes sin una computadora pueden entregar los paquetes cuando levanten el otro paquete. Los paquetes que se levanten en la escuela, deben de tener el nombre del estudiante, el nombre de el/la maestro(a) y el grado del estudiante.
