Calder Road Elementary

Hi, I am so happy to be your 2nd Grade teacher this year. This is my 8th year teaching at Calder Road Elementary. I taught Kindergarten for 5 years and this will be my 3rd year teaching 2nd grade. I have a total of 22 years teaching experience in my career. Seven of those years are here in Texas and 15 years in Mississippi. I have been married for almost 15 years and have two wonderful boys who are ages 12 and 9. My oldest son will be attending Barber Middle School this year and my youngest son will be here with me at Calder Road. My husband is retired from the United States Coast Guard and has been teaching in the Houston ISD for the past 5 years. I came from a family of educators. Both of my parents were educators as well. My dad was a principal who retired after 40 years and my mom was a teacher who retired after 36 years. I am also very involved with the Cub Scouts with my boys and currently serving as one of the Den leader and an officer in our Pack. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Alabama and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from William Carey University.

I am here to help your child learn and grown over this upcoming year. All of this will be done through fun and exciting lessons. If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding something in the classroom. I am hear to listen and help your child in anyway that I can. I truly believe in open communication with my parents throughout the school year. Please do not ever hesitate to call or email me. That is what I am here for. I want what is best for your child!

Monday-Friday (3:00-4:00 pm)

*During this time, I will be free to help answer any questions that students may have about their remote learning work or for tutoring sessions with students.

Remote Learning Information

*I will be posting all of my online learning activities for my students through the district Google Classroom which is on ClassLink for my students and my parents. Be sure to check for updates each Monday morning for new remote/online learning activities.

* I will also be having daily Zoom meetings every morning with my class.
