Click Recruitment Letter to view the letter addressed to interested 5th grade parents that will give you some information and statistics on why to join band! Once you are ready, click the "How to sign up" document below to get started!

FAQs about Band!

• What instruments can we play?
  • The instruments we offer in Dickinson ISD are:
    • Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinet, Saxophone
    • Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba
    • Percussion
• What do the instruments sound like?
  • CLICK HERE to listen to each instrument demonstrate what they sound like from the United States Army Field Band.
• When do we meet for band?
  • Band meets during the day, like any other academic class
• What if I don't have any knowledge of music or how to play an instrument?
  • We will start at square one! The first thing we will learn is how to read and understand music as an instrumentalist. We will teach you as if you are just learning music for the first time.
• I'm involved in sports and I heard that you cannot do band and sports at the same time.
  • YOU CAN DO BOTH BAND AND SPORTS! We have many kids that are leaders both on their instrument and in their sports!
