She participated in the Spirit of Houston Marching Band and served as the principal flute of the University of Houston Wind Ensemble and was a member of the Symphonic Winds, University Women’s Chorus, and Concert Women’s Chorus.

Her professional affiliations include Kappa Kappa Psi, Sigma Alpha Iota, Texas Bandmaster’s Association, and Texas Music Educator’s Association.

When outside the band hall at Lobit Middle School, Ms. Saldaña enjoys hanging out with family and friends, baking, singing in her car, eating pizza, playing video games, and cuddle times with her cat, Chopin.

Her greatest privilege and reward in teaching is to inspire students to make and appreciate music for the rest of their lives.
