Welcome to 4th grade! My name is Irene Alhamra, I am looking forward to this 2019-20 school year and glad to have your child in my class. This is my 6th year teaching but my first year as a 4th grade teacher. I teach reading and writing; therefore, your child will be required to read every day for 20-30 minutes each night. Reading in my classroom is an escape to new adventures and experiences. My goal is to help my students learn to appreciate reading by providing them books that they want to read and that they can relate to. Encouraging your child to read every day will eventually lead them to become lifelong readers as they grow and become productive citizens within our community. Remember, in order to make this happen I ask that you monitor their reading at home and sign their daily agenda. It is also crucial for parents and teacher to keep the lines of communication open, so you are well informed of your child’s academic performance and any concerns that you may have. It is not only my job but my duty as a dedicated teacher to make sure your child grows academically and emotionally. So, let’s grow some readers together!
