Mrs. Tonnies - Welcome!

I hope that everyone is doing well and staying safe at this time.  I know that we are all wondering how to keep the students on track and continuing to learn.  This will be a challenging school year but I know that if we all work together we can do this!  It is very important that your child continue to read each night for 15 to 20 minutes and study basic addition and subtraction math facts.  I have updated my website with various links that your child can use while at home.  You can find them under the "Important Information" tab.  If you have not signed up for Remind please do so, it is a great way for us to stay in contact.  If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.  I will be glad to help in any way I can.  My "Office Hours" will be Monday through Friday from 9:20 - 10:15 a.m.  Please feel free to contact me through email or Remind if you have any questions.

Homework...
Students should be studying math facts every night.  Students should have flash cards that can be studied at home each night for 10 - 15 minutes.

Science

We will be learning lots of new and interesting concepts in science this year.  Each 9 weeks your child will be completing many investigations that require them to have hands on experiences.  It is very important that they listen and follow all of the safety rules and procedures that they placed into their science journals during the first week of school.

Class Procedures and Rules

Our students here at Silbernagel are very well behaved.  Even though our classroom environments will look different this year I know that we can do it.  We will follow our classroom Treatment Agreement and our campus COVID-19 plan.  The students will be hearing a lot about hand washing, wearing their mask and social distancing here at school.  If you could discuss these at home also I would appreciate it.  You will receive communication from me through email, phone, and Remind.  My students know that I have high expectations in my classroom and therefore, they work really hard. If a problem does arise to where parent contact is needed, it will be done immediately.

I believe that I have created a positive working relationship with my students and this makes it possible to make their learning experience fun and exciting.

Please ask your child about our Treatment Agreement we have in our classroom.  It is a district initiative that focuses on building relationships within the school and community.  The treatment agreement is the starting link in Restorative Practices.
