Course Description

Students will be expected to develop an understanding of the various and multifaceted career opportunities in this cluster and the knowledge, skills, and educational requirements for those opportunities. This career cluster requires in addition to creative aptitude, a strong background in computer and technology applications, a strong academic foundation, and a proficiency in oral and written communication.

Goals of the Course

  • To apply English language arts in cluster projects.
  • To apply professional communications strategies.
  • To understand and examine problem-solving methods.
  • To apply information technology applications when completing cluster projects.
  • To apply safety regulations.
  • To develop leadership regulations.
  • To apply ethical decision-making and understands and complies with laws regarding use of technology.
  • To develop employability characteristics.
  • To apply technical skills for efficiency.

Classroom Rules and Procedures

  1. All policies in the STUDENT HANDBOOK will be followed. (Ex: No cell phones, IPODs or any electronic devices must be seen when the sign for no electronics is displayed.) Violations will be a warning, removal of phone from student until the end of class, phone call home and removal of phone until the end of the day.
  2. Use all equipment appropriately; keep settings the same, log off, and keep workstation area clean.
  3. Respect your classmates, yourself, and teacher at all times.
  4. All students will need a composition or spiral notebook and a pen/pencil for class every day.

Grading Policies

The following grading percentages will serve as a basis for the grades for this class:

Make-Up/Late Work

If absent it is your responsibility to see that make-up work is completed during a designated tutorial time or allotted class time.  Late assignments will have a 10 point reduction for each day up to 3 days. After 3 days the grade for late work will be a zero.

Tardiness

Do not be late! You must report to the attendance office to receive a pass in order to be allowed entry into the classroom.
