CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR BMS BAYOU BOOK BASH TEAM! Book Bash is May 2nd
In April we have crossed the 610,000 minute mark! Keep reading with your children at home and encouraging them to log their minutes in Beanstack.
In April, we have focused on writing short constructed responses to support your child and their reading teachers.
In May we will celebrate the work and literacy we have been blessed with this year. All student library books are due May 5th.

Library Policy for 4th & 5th Grade
- Book Checkout: Students may check out 2-3 books at a time.
- Checkout Duration: Books can be kept for 2 weeks. Please return or renew them by the due date.
- Optional Checkout: While checking out books is not required, it’s strongly encouraged to help build a love for reading!
- Book Care: Please take good care of the library books so others can enjoy them, too. Handle with clean hands, avoid folding pages, and keep books away from food and drinks.

Reading Challenges
- We have monthly challenges with incentives attached in our Beanstack Reading Logs, please ask your student and read with the to help them achieve their goals. Two goals for the rest of the year are to read 40 books and a collective 1 million minutes read before the end of the year. Beanstack website, but log in with Classlink.
- We have a district wide reading challenge called Big Al's Bayou Book Bash on May 2nd. Students from other middle school campuses will compete in a trivia bowl challenge at the ESC in the Spring. There are 20 books, composed of chapter books, picture books and graphic novels. Students check out and read those books, then take a brief quiz in their Schoology BMS Library account. Top competitors will form a team after a campus based trivia challenge.
