Layla Ford

My name is Layla Ford, and I am an academic instructional coach.  The majority of my day is spent training and supporting teachers; however, I do work with students when I am in the classroom. Since I will be working with most of our students in grades Pre-K - 4th grade, I wanted to tell you about my educational philosophy and a little about myself.

My philosophy for learning is that each child is unique, and each child learns in a different way. One of my jobs as a coach is to help teachers discover your child's individuality and work alongside with them to maximize student learning. I believe in hands-on experiences, learning creatively, and discovery learning. In 2008, I graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Houston - Clear Lake, and I have a master’s degree in Education from the University of Texas A&M Commerce. Previously, I have taught first through fourth grade over the years. For the past four years, my role at Hughes Road Elementary has been as an academic instructional coach working with all grade levels. Most importantly, please know that I have a love of reading and writing, and I am truly looking forward to helping our teachers and your child reach their full potential as a learner this school year.

Currently, I have been married for twenty-three years, and I have two wonderful children. My daughter Kayla is a sophomore in college, and my son Dillon is in the eight grade.  My family and I enjoy spending time together traveling. As a mother, teacher, and academic coach, I want to assure you that my overall goal is to help our teachers, so your child can grow academically during this school year. I look forward to having a successful rest of the school year! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at anytime.
