AVID Online Assignment #4

For the Weeks May 4 – 15:  COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING 3 PARTS and submit via a Google Doc or Google Slide Show.

The next two weeks will allow us to reflect on our accomplishments this year. The AVID Student agreements are printed on the attachment and there are 10 questions I would like for you to think about and answer in COMPLETE SENTENCES.
Please take the time to reflect and answer honestly. The second part of the assignment will be to create an AVID T-shirt design. Think about what parts of the AVID have been important to you and how you might be able to reflect that on a shirt. Please don't replicate something from the internet. Be original!! Be creative!!
Type or write your answers to the questions and post them in the Google Classroom as you have done over the past several weeks. Take a picture of your T-shirt design (or design the shirt using electronic means) and post it in the classroom as well. BE SURE TO ATTACH/ADD THEM FIRST, AND THEN CLICK TURN IN when you're ready! AGAIN, have fun! :) If you have questions about any of this, post your questions, email me or send me a Remind 101 text and I will be checking in periodically each day to help you out! Keep up the great work! Can't believe we are getting close to the end of the year. Thank you to all of you who are continuing to put your best efforts forward.

 

PART 1:  Read through the AVID Agreement which we all signed at the beginning of the year:

As an AVID Student, I agree to the following Responsibilities:

·       I will maintain at least a 2.0 GPA and satisfactory citizenship and attendance in all classes or will be placed on a probation contract.

·       I will maintain enrollment in college preparatory classes.

·       I will maintain an AVID three-ring binder (with calendar/planner, focused notes, assignments in all classes, and TRFs)

·       I will be an active learner, be prepared for all classes with all assigned work completed, take focused notes daily, and be an active participant in all activities.

·       I will complete all homework assignments (commit to at least two hours of homework every night).

·       I will participate in AVID tutorials at least twice a week.  I will come to AVID class prepared for tutorial session with the TRF pre-work completed, AVID binder with focused notes, and textbooks.  I will use critical thinking, inquiry, and collaboration with my classmates to create greater understanding about my point of confusion.

·       I will participate in AVID field trips and activities.

I agree to accept enrollment in the AVID Elective class, which will offer me academic support.  I want to succeed, and I understand that I must take individual responsibility for my own success.  I agree to remain in the AVID Elective class for at least one school year.  I understand that I will be allowed to remain in AVID only if I meet the student responsibilities detailed within this agreement.

Part 2:  Using your BEST WRITING SKILLS answer the following questions (in two to three sentences each):

1.     Of the AVID Student Agreements above, what were the easiest for you to achieve?  Why?

2.     Of the AVID Student Agreements above, what were the most difficult for you to achieve?  Why?

3.     What goals did you set out to achieve this year?

4.     Which of these goals were you able to achieve? Why?

5.     Which goals that you set were you not able to achieve? Why?

6.     How effectively did you manage and balance your time this year?

7.     What do you need to do differently next year?

8.     How can you plan backwards with your goals in mind?

9.     What steps would you need to take between now and then to accomplish those goals?

10.  What was your favorite part of AVID this year?  Why? What was your least favorite?  Why?
