Hello Gators!
I'm teaching two classes this year: Fundamentals of Computer Science and Principles of Engineering. This fits perfectly with my past experience. I've done every sort of engineering AND I've also done computer programming at professional levels.
For my Computer Science people, we'll be focusing on how to program by making actual programs that actually do stuff! You'll be able to start using computer programming to solve real-world problems by the end of the course and you'll have a good understanding of how computers work.
For the Principles of Engineering students you'll be exposed to Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, and even some Nuclear engineering. We'll use tools of the trades to build working machines.
I like to think of my classroom as a practice field for baseball. It's okay to make mistakes during practice. Mistakes are where the highest level of learning takes place and you're practicing in my classroom to become better at programming or engineering. So don't worry. We'll (as a class, a group, or just you and me) will figure out how to make it work!
