Proudly born and raised in Kingsport, TN, Mr. Aaron Stickley is currently the Assistant Director of Bands at Dickinson High School in Dickinson, TX. Before his time at Dickinson, Mr. Stickley served as the Director of Bands at Lamar High School in Houston, TX. While at Lamar, the band program advanced to the Area I Marching Contest for the first time in school history as well as received the 2019 USBands Class II Open National Championship at AT&T Stadium. Mr. Stickley was also the Assistant Director of Bands at Paragould Jr./Sr. High School located in Paragould, AR. During his time at Paragould, the Paragould PRIDE Band received the 2016 Arkansas Class AAAA State Marching Championship, the 2017 All-State Honor Ensemble, the 2016 & 2017 NAMM Best Communities for Music Education in America, and the 2017 National Band Association Blue Ribbon Award presented at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic. Aaron is an active visual designer and choreographer for band programs throughout Arkansas, Indiana, Tennessee, and Texas.
Mr. Stickley graduated Magna cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Instrumental Music Education from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. While studying at MTSU, he was inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda, the national honor music society, and was named Most Outstanding in Euphonium Performance as well as Music Education. Mr. Stickley also taught at multiple local high schools in the Middle Tennessee area as a wind and visual instructor. One of those bands won the Tennessee Division II State Marching Band Championship back in 2014. (Fred J Page High School) His drum corps experience includes performing with the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps (2012) and Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps (2014) on baritone and trumpet.
Mr. Stickley currently resides in Houston, TX with his wife, Mariah, two cats, Aria and Hazel, as well as his German shepherd puppy, Lucy. He is THRILLED to be apart of the Gator Band Family and looks forward to continuing the success of the program as he enters his 6th year of teaching.
