Amy Smith, Principal
Ms. Amy Smith was born and raised in Texas City and Santa Fe, Texas. She has been in education for the past 25 years and has worked with students from pre-kindergarten through 6th grade as a teacher and administrator. While growing up, Ms. Smith spent a lot of time working in her father's drug store, Mainland Pharmacy, in Texas City. Ms. Smith has one son, Andrew, who recently completed The Ford Asset Program at San Jacinto College and now owns a shop in La Marque. Ms. Smith loves working with staff and students and she couldn't imagine working in any other career field. On weekends and breaks from school Ms. Smith and Andrew enjoy spending time on their family property in east Texas watching wildlife. Ms. Smith loves animals and keeps great danes as her favorite pets.
Julie O'Gea, Assistant Principal
Mrs. O’Gea is overjoyed to join the Bay Colony Elementary family! She has been in education for ten years as an English Language Arts teacher, AVID teacher, and instructional coach. Prior to education, she worked in the business world in the health insurance industry. She is married and has four beautiful children ranging in age from 17 to 25. Mrs. O’Gea is a proud graduate of Dickinson High School! Her Dickinson ISD education began her fourth grade year when her family moved to Dickinson, and she attended the old Dunbar campus when it housed fourth and fifth grade. After high school, she attended College of the Mainland and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Literature at University of Houston Clear Lake. She continued her studies at Lamar University where she received her Masters in Educational Administration. Mrs. O’Gea loves to read and spend time with family. She also enjoys traveling, singing, and laughing.
